The deaths of four family members has left a neighborhood reeling, following the discovery of their bodies.
Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Monument and Palmer Lake arrived at a house on the 1,300 block of Pleier at 10 a.m. on Saturday following a 911 call.
A statement from the sheriff's office issued on Sunday described it as an "apparent murder/suicide." The sheriff's office said said they responded to "a report of someone on scene who was seriously injured and needed help."
What they found at the scene led the Sheriff's Office Tactical Support Unit being asked to respond and authorities to issue an urgent plea for locals to secure their safety.
The Sheriff's office tweeted: "There is heavy LE [Law Enforcement] activity in the area of Pleier Drive & Walsen Road. Shelter in place is in effect for a 2-mile radius.
"Stay inside, lock your doors, stay away from exterior walls. We also ask anyone operating drones in the area to please stop."
This emergency request was eventually lifted at 2.15 p.m., allowing locals to return to their day-to-day activities.
The Sheriff's Office statement added: "We do not feel there is any known threat to the community currently and the investigation is ongoing."
Newsweek has contacted El Paso County Sheriff's Office for updates.
The identities of the dead are understood to have still not been revealed, until relatives have been informed.

A family friend told local media outlet Fox 31 he suspects exactly what occurred in the house may remain a mystery, adding he described the family as "very good people".
Another neighbour told CBS Denver: "Of course it's disturbing, adding: "You want to know the backstory.
"You want to know if it's something from outside the neighborhood that came into the neighborhood or whether it was something internally festering in the home."
Another local told Fox 31 how "we just have to all stand together as a community and work together," Another told reporters, "we've never had anything like this out here."
