How Much 2024 Republican Candidates Have Raised So Far

Most of the leading contenders in the 2024 GOP presidential primary are set to face off against each other in the third televised debate on Wednesday.

It is believed there are five Republican White House hopefuls who have qualified to appear at the debate in Miami, Florida, on November 8, having cleared the higher threshold of donor and polling support: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former New Jersey governor Chris Christie.

Once again, former President Donald Trump is believed to be snubbing the debate, having previously cited the lack of need to take part in the previous two as he has such an overwhelming lead in GOP primary polls.

It is not thought that longshot candidate North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has qualified to take part in the third debate, having previously appeared in the first two.

Former Vice President Mike Pence suspended his presidential campaign on October 28 amid reported concerns that he was struggling to receive the necessary amount of donations for his 2024 campaign to qualify for the Miami debate.

Below, Newsweek has compiled how much the remaining GOP presidential candidates who will be appearing in the third GOP debate have raised for their 2024 campaigns.

Ron DeSantis

The Florida governor, who officially entered the race in May, raised $15 million in the third quarter fundraising period between his campaign committee and leadership PAC.

This was down from the $20 million he raised in the previous quarter.

DeSantis' campaign also struggled with spending and only has $5 million for the rest of the primary season.

Nikki Haley

The former South Carolina governor ramped up her fundraising in the last quarter, raising $11 million across her political committees following strong performances in the previous two GOP debates.

Haley's July to September fundraising was higher than the $7.3 million she raised in the previous quarter. She also has more money than DeSantis in terms of cash in hand, with $9.1 million.

Haley became the first serious challenger to Trump to announce they would also be running in the GOP primary, having confirmed her 2024 bid in February. In the first quarter of 2023, Haley's campaign and two affiliated groups raised $8.3 million, a smaller figure than the $11 million Haley's campaign said they had raised in six weeks.

Tim Scott

The South Carolina Senator raised nearly $6 million in the previous quarter for his 2024 campaign, bringing his total to $13.3 million in the bank and $11.6 million cash on hand—more than many of his primary rivals.

However, Scott, who transferred $22 million from his Senate account into his presidential campaign, is also burning through cash rapidly, with his campaign spending around $12.4 million after bringing in about $4.6 million.

Vivek Ramaswamy

The businessman has largely been self-funding his campaign, bringing in $7.4 million in the last quarter, which includes $1 million of his own money.

Ramaswamy said that he has also received more than 130,000 unique donors. Many are smaller or first-time Republican donors, nearly doubling the 70,000 requirement for entry into the third debate.

In the second quarter, he also donated $5 million to his own campaign, bringing in a total of $7.7 million. Ramaswamy currently has $4.2 million cash on hand.

Chris Christie

The former New Jersey governor raised $3.8 million in the previous quarter, with $1.65 million raised over the first 25 days of his candidacy, which occurred in the second quarter. Christie entered the final stretch of the primary season with around $3.9 million cash on hand.

Donald Trump

While not expected to take part in the next GOP primary debate, it seems that the former president has dominated in terms of fundraising as well as polling.

Trump's campaign raised more than $45.5 million in the third quarter, with around $36 million of the total cash on hand designated purely for the primary season.

The former president's joint fundraising committee also raised more than $35 million in the second quarter, which is almost double the $18.8 million the committee raised during the first quarter of the year as Trump sought to use his criminal indictments as a fundraising tool.
