Adorable Video of Cat Snuggling up Inside Cardboard Box Viewed Over 11m Times

Footage of a cat settling down for a well-earned nap inside a cardboard box has been melting hearts on social media.

The clip of Bella, a 2-year-old British shorthair lilac cat, was posted to the official Instagram account on Friday and it quickly began racking up hits.

At the time of writing, the adorable video has been viewed more than 11 million times—and with good reason.

In the clip, Bella can be seen making her way into the box, which has been opened up and laid on its side ready for what lies ahead.

Walking confidently into the cardboard structure, it initially appears as though Bella has run into a dead end as the cat momentarily pauses inside.

A second later, the fluffy feline's true intentions become clear.

Pawing at the floor of the box, Bella begins turning sideways before completing a roll that ends with her snuggled up near the front of the container.

Impressive and cute in equal measure, the video proved a hit with cat fans who flocked to the clip to flood the comments section with a glut of heart and fire emojis.

The original came from another Instagram account, when_bella_met_mo, which celebrates Bella and her relationship with her adopted cat sibling Mo.

Like Bella, Mo is a British shorthair lilac cat and is due to turn 2 in November.

The pair live together with their human owners in Fitzroy in Victoria, Australia and boast 12,000 followers on Instagram.

Bella and Mo's owner told Newsweek about the fortuitous way they came to end up living together.

Prior to taking in the feline twosome, their owner enjoyed 13 lovely years together with another British short hair called Suki. When Suki died, her owner was left bereft.

"I loved her so much," they explained. "After a while I decided to get a new cat that was the same breed but male. I researched breeders all over Australia and found the perfect one."

The cat they eventually found was none other than Mo. "As I was waiting for Mo to arrive I heard of a friend who had a lilac girl and she was moving from a house to an apartment and was devastated she couldn't keep her," they said. This cat was Bella.

"I offered to take her in so Bella came home with me first and then Mo was born and 12 weeks later he came home. They soon became best friends."

Inspired by other Instagrammers and their pets, they began posting videos and pictures of Bella and Mo's blissful existence.

It's turned into something of a hobby since then, with Bella and Mo's owner crediting it with keeping them busy and entertained during lockdown.

"It wasn't about followers for me," they said. "It was just to share funny moments and I also love taking pictures of them."

Bella appears to have a particular affection for cardboard boxes, if the multiple videos of her playing around with containers of this kind are to be believed.

The majority of the videos posted to the account appear to show Bella and Mo in a near-permanent state of relaxation, such is the life of an everyday household cat.

Newsweek has reached out to whoever runs when_bella_met_mo for further comment.

Bella's adorable antics have seen her become a star on Instagram—but she's obviously not the first cat to end up the talk of social media.

In August, a fellow feline by the name of Ricky ended up going viral on TikTok after his owner decided to share a video showing his strange and super-cute method for descending staircases.

In another adorable moment caught on camera, a fellow feline found themselves the talk of the internet after footage of them struggling to contain hiccups ended up doing the rounds.

Prior to that, a tabby cat ended up being a big hit on Twitter after a video surfaced of the animal knocking a dog backwards off a chair in an impressive show of strength.
