Siesta Key star Alex Kompothecras has been fired by MTV over alleged racial slurs posted to his social media account, and will be edited out of upcoming episodes, with producers promising to "minimize his presence."
The reality TV star, 25, and his girlfriend Alyssa Salerno, with whom he recently welcomed a daughter, are prominent personalities on the show, which has just returned from a hiatus.
The show's Twitter account tweeted: "We've made the decision to cut ties with Alex and are editing the current season to minimize his presence. He will not be in future seasons of Siesta Key."

Siesta Key was initially due to air a double bill of episodes in its return from a three-month hiatus on Tuesday, but only one episode was broadcast and Kompothecras is no longer listed as a cast member on MTV's website.
People reported this week that racist comments and white supremacist posts allegedly made by Kompothecras had resurfaced and have been shared by fan accounts online.
He is now set to be edited out of further episodes of the series, having already starred in most episodes. Kompothecras' father, Gary Kompothecras, is also a producer of the reality show.

Siesta Key follows a group of friends in Sarasota, Florida much like other reality shows Jersey Shore or The Hills.
MTV has also cut ties with two of its other stars this week, The Challenge's Dee Nguyen and Teen Mom's Taylor Selfridge.
Selfridge's new special was axed last Wednesday after racist tweets she made years ago remerged.
And Nguyen was reprimanded for her insensitive comments about the Black Lives Matter movement.
In a since-deleted tweet, she wrote: "IDK why some of you think I'm anti-BLM. I've been saying that since the day I lost my virginity."
The 27-year-old later apologized, saying via People: " What was stated wasn't meant to be hurtful or discriminatory in any matter. It was a knee jerk of a reaction and it's certainly not the way that I feel nor what I meant."
Kompothecras' firing comes a week after another reality show, Vanderpump Rules, was hit with controversy after Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired for calling the police of fellow cast member Faith Stowers for a crime she did not commit in 2018.
