American Horror Story is back for its eleventh installment, with a new terrifying tale set in New York City.

The next season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's horror anthology series will be set in the Big Apple and, in typical AHS fashion, very little else has been revealed about the series apart from who will be starring in it.

Another aspect of the show that is known is when it will be released, and fans of the series will be surprised by the way in which the show's schedule differs from past seasons of the franchise. Here is everything you need to know.

American Horror Story: NYC will be released on a weekly basis on FX starting Wednesday, October 19, with episodes becoming available to stream the next day on Hulu.

This, fans will know, is usually how American Horror Story is released. But the difference with Season 11 is that the show will come out with two episodes a week, which has not happened before in the franchise's history.

This Wednesday, the show will premiere with its first two episodes, and then every week after that will see a further two episodes be released for the next four until the show concludes on Wednesday, November 16.

A reason has not been given for why Season 11 will have this specific release schedule, but it will no doubt make for a nice surprise for AHS fans.

Who Stars in 'American Horror Story: NYC'?

Very little is known about American Horror Story: NYC other than its setting and who will appear in the cast. Even the promotional material for the new season simply teases it as: "New Season. New City. New Fears."

This should not come as much of a surprise to fans of the horror franchise as creator Murphy prefers to keep each season as shrouded in mystery as he can before it is made available to the public.

Joe Mantello, Billie Lourd, Zachary Quinto, Russell Tovey, Leslie Grossman, Charlie Carver, Sandra Bernhard, Isaac Powell, Denis O'Hare and Patti LuPone will all star in the new season.

Lourd, Quinto, Grossman, O'Hare and Powell have all appeared in the franchise before, with Quinto last appearing in Asylum, and Lourd starring in Cult, Apocalypse, 1984 and Double Feature. The new season will mark Grossman's fifth appearance in the franchise, and O'Hare's seventh appearance in a season of AHS.

American Horror Story: NYC will premiere this Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. It will stream the next day on Hulu.
