As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reaches the end of its fourth phase, it is beginning to set the stage for the next chapter.
Phase five of the MCU kickstarts with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and the film's first trailer was released on Monday, October 24.
'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' Trailer Teases Kang the Conqueror Plan

In the teaser trailer, Scott Lang a.k.a Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) is enjoying life as an Avenger when his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) shows him, Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), a new invention that can send signals to the Quantum Realm.
Janet warns her against using it, having been lost in the Quantum realm in the past, but her warning comes too late as they are swept into the dimension.
There, Ant-Man and the gang meet several new faces, but none that will pose as much of a threat as Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

Kang the Conqueror is set to become the new villain of the MCU with his arc culminating in the next two Avengers films: Secret Wars and The Kang Dynasty
For anyone who hasn't seen Disney+ show Loki, the character was first teased by his variant He Who Remains who warned Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) of the dangers of stopping him from keeping all multiverses on a set path because it will allow Kang the Conqueror to wreak havoc.
He Who Remains was originally Nathaniel Richards, a scientist who discovered the existence of the multiverse and met with many iterations of himself, the most ruthless of which was Kang the Conqueror. When Sylvie did not listen and killed He Who Remains anyway, it changed the MCU as we know it.
In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania it appears as if Kang the Conqueror is preparing his grand plan in the Quantum realm, because he meets Scott there and asks for help in exchange for bringing them back to their home.
Kang the Conqueror's intention is literally in his namesake. He wants to conquer Earth and rule over the multiverse, but how Scott may fit into that plan is yet to be seen.
It does seem clear from the trajectory of the MCU that Scott's decision will have huge repercussions on the lives of every Marvel hero.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released in theaters on Friday, February 17, 2023.
