The alert read: "On December 13, 2021, at approximately 3:26 p.m., Fremont Fire Department (FFD) personnel were on scene for a medical aid call at a Tesla Factory parking lot in the 45000 block of Fremont Blvd.
"Firefighters arrived and observed an unresponsive, male victim suffering from a visible injury and suspected that he was the victim of a violent crime.
"FFD contacted the Fremont Police Department (FPD) Dispatch Center and requested an emergency response from patrol officers. Officers arrived on the scene and observed that the victim had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
"The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel shortly thereafter. A crime was established and several expanded .223 rifle casings were recovered nearby."
Police did not originally reveal the victim had been shot, but provided this information on upgrading the death to a homicide.
Emergency services attempted to save the individual's life after arrival but he died at the scene.
According to the alert, the victim had just finished a shift and was shot in the parking lot as he left.
Detectives were quickly able to develop leads on a suspect and discovered that the victim and suspect had been arguing earlier in the day. They also learned the suspect had suddenly walked off the job.
According to the Fremont Police Department alert, detectives located the arrested suspect at 8:42 p.m. These detectives continued constant surveillance on the suspect while additional enquiries were made.
At 11:16 p.m. police were able to obtain an arrest and search warrant for the suspect and his vehicle. They proceeded to wait for the best opportunity to arrest the individual and when they did so the suspect surrendered immediately.
Detectives found a loaded, non-serialized, .223-caliber short-barrel rifle in the suspect's car, as well as an expanded casing.
Solima was interviewed by homicide detectives at the Fremont Police Department before being booked at Santa Rita Jail.
Fremont Police say there are no outstanding suspects and detectives do not believe there is any additional risk to the community. The identity of the victim is waiting to be confirmed by the coroner's office.
Police have also said if anyone has information about this case or recognizes Solima from the day of the shooting, please call 510-790-6900 or email Detective Gebhardt at Mgebhardt@fremont.gov.
