A video showing a baby dressed up as Mitch McConnell for Halloween has been watched over 3 million times on social media.

The clip, which was posted to TikTok by lojo627, shows the child, who hasn't been identified, wearing a suit along with glasses and a wig. The baby is being held up at a fake lectern, complete with microphones, by a man in a suit, while a woman in similar formal wear stands alongside him.

The clip is a rerun of the infamous incident in which the 81-year-old abruptly froze and stopped talking for several seconds during a weekly news conference for the GOP leadership.

After he froze, McConnell's Republican colleagues were seen leading him away with Senator John Thune stepping in to take over the mic. McConnell returned to the press conference a few minutes later, insisting he was "fine."

The incident nevertheless sparked concerns over the 81-year-old's health and reignited debate about the cognitive abilities of certain elected officials. It's also proven to be a source of inspiration for the people in this latest viral video, which can be watched here.

In the footage, someone off-screen can be heard asking the baby "McConnell" whether he has considered a run in 2026. The camera zooms in on the young child, who stares off into the distance in a manner not dissimilar to the Republican at the time.

"Uh, Mitch, did you hear the question?" the woman to the side asks before turning to the camera to inform them: "We're gonna need a minute."

The baby is then led away as the clip concludes. "Mitch McConnell returned to the press conference, claiming he has 'never felt better,'" a caption accompanying the clip states. "He assured his audience it was merely a mindfulness meditation practice he's recently taken up."
