The new star of The Bachelor has been confirmed, following a very dramatic end to Season 19 of The Bachelorette.

During the live finale, hosted by Jesse Palmer, it was confirmed that Zach Shallcross—who appeared on The Bachelorette as a love interest for Rachel—would be the next star of The Bachelor.

The Bachelor's Zach Shallcross' Dating History

Zach's most recent love interest was, of course, The Bachelorette's Rachel Recchia.

He made it all the way to the final with Rachel and seemed to be one of the most promising men pursuing her until things fell apart in the Fantasy Suites.

In dramatic scenes, Zach told Rachel that he was leaving the competition after a conversation during their night in the suites together had made him realize they weren't right for each other.

This came after Zach had explained to the cameras that the trouble started when Rachel had questioned him on whether he was old enough to commit to an engagement.

"Rachel's concern came out of nowhere," Zach, who was 25 at the time, said. "That scares me. That scares me a lot."

He later said that what he was "seeing wasn't the real Rachel," adding: "She was, in my mind, the future Mrs. Shallcross. I thought maybe that I meant more, but I guess I didn't."

Zach's season of The Bachelor won't premiere until January 23, 2023 on ABC but fans have already got a sneak peek at what to expect.

During The Bachelorette's three-hour finale Shallcross was surprised with five women who will be competing on his season.

Bailey Brown, Brianna Thorbourne, Brooklyn Willie, Catherine "Cat" Wong and Christina Mandrell Dennis were able to get a head start on love as they attempted to charm Zach —and the public watching at home.

For the first time in the franchise's history, viewers were able to vote for who should receive "America's First Impression" rose.

The votes were cast on Twitter and the honor ultimately went to Brianna, meaning she will be safe from elimination on the first episode of The Bachelor Season 27.

The Bachelor will return to ABC in January 2023.
