The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 8 saw the cast go on their hometown dates, with Clayton Echard meeting the families of Gabby Windey, Rachel Recchia, Susie Evans and Serene Russell.
Though Clayton told host Jesse Palmer he was falling in love with all four women, the rules of the ABC show meant he had to send one of them home.
In the rose ceremony, Clayton called out Susie, Gabby and Rachel, meaning that Serene was sent home in 4th place. "Clayton was able to break down my walls, but I gave it my all," she said in her exit interview. "I can feel myself closing back up. That's why I have nothing else to say to him."
She may have had nothing to tell him then, but she has since taken to Instagram to discuss the "world shattering" elimination – as well as giving Bachelor Nation a glimpse of her life since being on the show.
What Serene said about leaving The Bachelor
On an Instagram post, Serene wrote: "I didn't leave this with my person—at first I thought I left empty handed; but I left having learned how to give myself grace and let go of things not meant for me.
"Of course it was world shattering at the time, but I'm proud of the person I've grown into: A woman who knows it's okay to be human. A woman who learned showing vulnerability isn't a weakness. A woman that knows what she deserves and isn't afraid to ask for what she needs. A woman who ultimately, isn't afraid to love.
"I'm still learning and growing, but I know it's still out there for me—a person who will see all of me, my experiences, my scars (and my sunshine too) and it'll be exactly what he's been waiting for. I can't wait to meet him."
Bachelor fans on Twitter had many words of encouragement for Serene. For example, one wrote: "I love that Serene didn't cry a single tear on camera for that boring man. Good for you, girl," while another tweeted: "Serene you're fantastic—please find love far far away from this ridiculous franchise "

In fact, tweets about Serene fell into three categories: Tweets saying she was too good for the franchise, tweets discussing what she would be like on Bachelor in Paradise, and tweets lusting after her brother Roland.
Some sample tweets: "Friendly reminder that Serene is stunning, a sweetheart and deserves way more attention than she's given by this trash franchise."
