'The Batman' Release Date Pushed Back to 2022 And Fans Are Losing It

Batman fans are going to have to wait a bit longer to see Matt Reeves' adaptation. On Monday, Variety reported that the Dune, which was set to release this December, has been pushed to October 1, 2021. For those keeping score at home, that is the same day that Robert Pattinson's The Batman was slated to premiere. Eagle-eyed fans noticed the new date set for Dune, and began to anticipate the inevitable.

Amid the coronavirus, many films from Tenet and Black Widow to No Time to Die and Mulan having premiere dates pushed back.

There was previously speculation surrounding the film's delayed premiere after Robert Pattinson tested positive for the coronavirus in early September, days after the film resumed production.

At the time, Warner Bros. studios released the following statement: "A member of The Batman production has tested positive for COVID-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily suspended."

Now, the latest adaptation of the DC superhero's film won't be premiering until March 4, 2022, and folks are not happy. Warner Bros announced the date change on Monday evening along with more changes to the studio's release schedule including The Matrix 4's new premiere date of December 22, 2021. The latest movie of the Keanu Reeves franchise was originally planned for April 1, 2022.

Fans were quick to lament over the delayed Batman release on social media.

"Just want to see my emotional support batman movie already and it's most likely getting delayed again meaning we have to wait longer," one person wrote on Twitter.

Another wrote: "We really gotta wait until 2022 now for that Robert Pattinson Batman movie..............................."

Considering the state of the U.S., some people felt the film's delay was warranted.

"In all seriousness,a movie moving to 2022 should be the least of our problems.
We're in the middle of a pandemic," one Twitter user wrote.
