Bill Belichick Doesn't Seem to Appreciate Taylor Swift Questions Right Now

Bill Belichick has expressed admiration for Taylor Swift in the past, so with Swift-mania alive and well in the NFL and the coach's New England Patriots facing a matchup against Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, questions about the pop star are a natural follow-up.

During his weekly appearance on Boston's WEEI Monday, he was asked if he could get tickets so co-host Courtney Cox could meet Swift. But Belichick had no interest in the banter. "I don't really know anything about tickets," he said.

When another host asked Belichick if he would introduce himself to the pop star, he remained taciturn.

"I'm really focused on trying to get our team ready to play Kansas City," he said.

Last summer, Belichick—whose favorite Swift song is "You've Got to Calm Down"—attended a Swift concert in a thunderstorm and called it "pretty impressive."

"She is tough, man," Belichick said at the time. "She just stood out there and played right through."

In September, Belichick called Swift Kelce's "biggest catch" in a career full of big catches.

It's unclear whether Swift will be at Massachusetts' Gillette Stadium on Sunday when the Patriots and Chiefs face off, but her touring schedule would allow her to be in attendance. She recently traveled to one of Kelce's road games when she took in the Chiefs' 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Wisconsin's Lambeau Field. She lives in New York, which would allow her a relatively short flight to see Kelce's game.

Sunday's game might be an opportunity for Swift to see a big Chiefs win as they look to break their recent skid. In addition to their loss to the Packers two weeks ago, the Chiefs dropped their matchup against the Bills in a controversial loss.

The Patriots, meanwhile, have been so bad this season that their prime-time game against the Chiefs was moved to an earlier time slot. They beat the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday, but at 3-10 they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, with little motivation to be competitive. In fact, the Patriots would benefit from a few extra losses to end the season in pursuit of one of the highly touted quarterbacks at the top of the 2024 draft class.

In other words, don't expect much of a Swift reaction out of Belichick with a game against the Chiefs looming. After a highly difficult season for the Patriots, full of rumors about Belichick's potential exit, the longtime coach appears to be in no mood for any kind of levity.

The Chiefs and Patriots kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
