Black Lightning has been streaming on Netflix since May, but the complete first season arrives on Blu-ray and DVD June 26, and Newsweek has an exclusive clip teasing what's to come in the home entertainment release. The 90 second clip features some of the first season's most electrifying moments. Check out the promo above.
The first seconds highlight Jefferson Pierce and his famous power-up move, which went viral as fans quickly noticed the homage to Dragon Ball Z. We're also reminded of Cress Williams' gift for delivering corny superhero one-liners, very reminiscent of Pierce's personality in the comic books. When Black Lightning hands a secret flip-phone to the police, he takes a shot at Batman: "Consider this the Black signal." In the comic books, Batman and Black Lightning formed an alternative group to the Justice League called The Outsiders. The 'Black Signal' line wasn't the only nod to Batman and The Outsiders. Black Lightning's daughter Anissa (aka Thunder) held an Outsiders comic when she met her soon-to-be girlfriend, Grace Choi. Both became core members of The Outsiders team in the source material, which is certainly something to think about heading into the second season.

Thunder and her sister Jennifer (who has yet to take on her comic book name, Lightning) also appear in the promo. Perhaps one of Thunder's best moves is showcased in this clip, when she claps her hands and a sonic shock wave sends her enemies spiraling backwards. And last but not least, the footage includes the moment Jennifer finally uses her powers in the finale. She wraps lightning ropes around the villain's waist, picks him up, and slams him down on the ground. Not bad for a teenager, not bad at all. Her lack of impulse control in contrast to her father and sister's very composed natures should make for a very interesting second season.

The Blu-ray and DVD comes bundled with a bunch of extra content, including the 2017 Comic-Con panel, two featurettes ("A Family of Strength" and "Black Lightning Come Visit Georgia"), deleted scenes and a gag reel.
