Bosch may have come to an end on Prime Video, but you cannot keep a good detective down for long. Or, as is the case here, you cannot stop a popular TV detective from getting a spin-off.
Bosch: Legacy is the name of that spin-off, in which Titus Welliver returns as the grizzled detective alongside former enemy Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers). Though the two stars return, there are some big differences that separate the original Bosch from this new show on a new streaming service.
The Freevee spin-off is streaming now. And while you might have streaming service fatigue right now, the new service has one major perk that Bosch fans will definitely want to take advantage of.
How is Bosch: Legacy linked to the original Bosch?
While some spin-offs will turn supporting characters to leads, or be prequels to the existing show, Legacy is a sequel which maintains Harry Bosch (Welliver) as its lead. Also returning are Rogers as Honey and Madison Lintz as Bosch's daughter Maddie.
However, this spin-off follows the events of Season 7, in which Bosch left the LAPD and took up the role of private detective, and Carl Rogers (Michael Rose) tried to have Honey killed. In Legacy, Bosch is picking up cases as a PI (including one from a shady billionaire), while Honey is trying to get revenge on Carl.
Admittedly, there is not much separating Bosch and Legacy apart from this job change, which is why Welliver called it "less of a spinoff and more of a continuation" in a TV Line interview. He added: "And if you've followed these characters at all over the years, it's a natural progression."
What has changed, however, is the streaming service the show is on.
How to watch Bosch: Legacy online for free

Bosch: Legacy is streaming on Freevee, the streaming service formerly known as IMDbTV.
Confusingly, Freevee is accessible from Amazon—exactly the same place where the seven seasons of Bosch live as part of the Prime Video catalog.
There is, however, one crucial difference: Prime Video is a paid service that users pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee for—what in the entertainment industry is called SVOD (streaming video on demand). In contrast, Freevee is AVOD, or advertising-based video on demand.
What that means for you as a viewer is that Freevee is exactly as it says in the name: a free streaming service, meaning that you can watch Bosch: Legacy now on the Amazon website for free with commercials.
If you already have a Prime subscription or a free Amazon account, all you have to do is find the series on the website or app. And if you do not, all you have to do is make a free account.
The first four episodes of Bosch: Legacy are available now. Freevee will then release two episodes a week on Fridays until May 27.
