A boyfriend has been criticized online after his partner shared their experience of his birthday, dubbing him "entitled" for his apparent demands.
The girlfriend shared that her boyfriend is 40 years old "but acts like a toddler on the run up to his own birthday." According to the girlfriend, who has been dating him for 14 years, his behavior has been an annoyance over the last few weeks, so she turned to popular forum Mumsnet where she gained traction on her issue.
She claimed that she's been asking for his plans on his birthday "for weeks" but "he could never give [her] an answer." When it came to her suggesting ideas, everything wasn't "good enough" or sparked anger over the day being things she's choosing rather than him, despite it being his birthday.

Although they finally agreed on a restaurant of her suggestion, the present was another hurdle. "I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and he chose something expensive that wasn't in stock anywhere. I managed to find it after hours of searching and I have spent £1,000 ($1,200) on him for his birthday, but because he has been so awful, I don't want to give the presents to him because I feel he doesn't deserve them," she wrote in the popular post.
During a day out for his birthday, the boyfriend allegedly created issues over what bar to have a drink in. After deciding on one, he "went mad" at her for ordering a drink before making sure they sold the beer he wanted, which they didn't.
"I basically snapped after this, I've put so much effort into his birthday, hours searching for presents and activities to do, including going on holiday and he has turned down every single one, yet he's acting so ungrateful, telling me he doesn't want any presents so I told him fine, I'll send them all back because I could do with the money anyway," she explained.
The girlfriend added that she wished him a happy birthday on the actual day but received no response. "Do I still give him his presents when he's made no attempt to sort things out with me and just carries on acting entitled or do I call his bluff and not give him them to teach him to stop being so entitled?" she pondered.
Arguments over birthdays in relationships are nothing new. A study by OnePoll of 2,000 Americans found that as many as 35 percent of people have had their partner forget their birthday.
One in five have had a fight as a result of a forgotten birthday while 12 percent have even split up over it.
The post received over 100 replies and respondents to the stressed girlfriend were fully in her favor, slamming the boyfriend on his birthday antics.
"Is it his fifth birthday tomorrow?" joked one user.
"You're clearly not happy with him and his behavior towards you has been appalling," noted another. "You need to rethink this relationship very carefully."
"There's no way I'd put myself out for his birthday. Get him a token gift (bottle of vodka or wine) and a card and then leave him to it. If he kicks off, tell him he's been ungrateful with regards to anything you've planned or offered him," added a user.
"He sounds like a nightmare person. Time to call it a day," wrote one person frankly.
