A boyfriend was criticized online after he refused to pay to replace the undergarments of his girlfriend, which he misplaced while doing their laundry.

The girlfriend wrote on Reddit to share her dilemma, explaining that the seven bras were worth more than $400 and left behind in a separate bag at the laundromat.

According to a Statista Survey, 65 percent of American women spend less than $30 on each bra, with 46 percent spending between $16 and $30 per bra. For those with larger breasts, however, spending little money on a bra is often not an option.

As reported by Today, companies that sell bras at cheaper prices tend to focus on keeping costs low, meaning they don't spend as much money and time on research and development to perfect the fit of the bra.

Plus, those cheaper, more mainstream stores tend not to cater for a wide range of sizes, meaning those with larger breasts must shop in more expensive, specialized places.

"I wear a 32K bra. This is not exactly a bra size that you can just walk into Target and find," wrote the girlfriend in her post. "More than that, i'd finally gotten to the point where I know what style bras actually fit me comfortably and those seven bras were ones i'd specifically chosen because they fit me well and look good on me.

"When I asked him to please replace them since he's the one who lost them, he at first agreed, until I sent him links to each of the bras and the cost was nearly $400."

The boyfriend told her that he would be happy only to replace one or two, but that she was spending "way too much" on bras. The girlfriend agreed to have just one or two replaced immediately and have the others replaced by him over time. "He said no, that's not really any better," she wrote.

According to the girlfriend, his sister also agreed with him and told her to buy cheaper bras instead.

Despite his family backing him, the girlfriend was boosted with support from Reddit users, who understood the difficulties of finding bras at a good price point.

"Tell your boyfriend and his sister to hop on over to the mall and find some bras with a K cup. Tell them to check every store and not to return without one," wrote one Redditor. "They could spend days searching the mall and not find a single bra in your size. Especially a K cup with a small band size."

'Tell him you will flatten all his tires, but only pay to replace one," wrote another. "Ask him how that would work for him. Then tell him he spends too much time on tires."

Another Redditor commented: "He lost the items, he pays to replace them. That's how losing someone else's things works. Also, no $400 for seven bras is not that expensive at all. You're nowhere near overspending."

"Bras that fit well are freaking expensive," wrote one Redditor. "Heck, a majority of women don't even wear the correct size because most stores don't fit you right. He made a mistake, yes but he left behind goods that cost over $400 dollars and they were taken.

"It makes sense that you'd ask him to replace them, really this shows him that he needs to be mindful when he does laundry. "
