Karen Fukuhara admitted filming Kimiko's musical number with Frenchie felt like "night and day" compared to her usual experience on set of The Boys, the actor told Newsweek, especially because she was "ripping heads off" the day before.
In Episode 5, Kimiko and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are watching a clip of Judy Garland performing "I've Got Rhythm," at which point Kimiko's voice starts to return before she bursts into her own rendition of the track.
Kimiko and Frenchie then perform an sweet performance together in the hospital where she has been recovering after being attacked by Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and losing her ability to heal, and her other powers.
'The Boys' star Karen Fukuhara Talks 'Ripping Heads Off' Before Musical Scene

For Fukuhara it was a "truly magical" experience getting to do the musical with Capone, and when she was asked by Newsweek if it was fun to film something cheerful for a change in The Boys, she declared: "Oh, yeah, for sure!"
Fukuhara then added: "I mean, it was such a night and day experience, you know. The day before we're shooting a bloody scene and I'm ripping heads off, and then the next day I'm in this bright blue hospital gown like prancing down the hospital hallway.
"So, you know, it was so much fun to shoot. I have the best scene partner in the world in Tomer Capone, and it's such a fun experience filming anything with him because he's such a hilarious guy.
"And getting to spend that much time working on something with him was truly magical, and I think it kind of translates on screen. Yeah, it was one of the best days on sets for me."
On Kimiko and Frenchie's Relationship in Season 3
The musical number is later revealed to be a dream sequence that Kimiko thought of as she kissed Frenchie, a moment some fans have been hoping to see happen between the two characters.
Reflecting on the pair and their relationship, particularly in Season 3, Fukuhara said: "I think Kimiko and Frenchie's relationship is so unique and different from what we've seen in other forms of media before, and so I never really wanted to define what they had.
"As you saw in this season it goes in one direction, but even then we still don't know what the future holds and I don't really want to predict or assume anything, I think the writers come up with better things than I can ever write.
"So, I'm excited to see where they go. I think the scene in the hospital is a huge act of bravery for Kimiko and so it was a really, really interesting thing to play as an actor."
The Boys Season 3 airs Fridays on Prime Video.
