Britney Spears and Sir Elton John's duet, "Hold Me Closer" has skyrocketed to number 1 on iTunes worldwide on its day of release, and Spears posted a video on Twitter to congratulate John and to celebrate.

The song was officially released on Friday and topped the charts in less than 24 hours, hitting number 1 in over 40 countries.

"Hello Sir Elton John, we are like, number 1 in 40 countries," Spears said on Twitter, before screaming, "Holy s**t!"

"I'm in the tub right now, and I'm about to go have the best day ever, and I hope you're well," she added, right before the video cut off.

The song is Spears' epic comeback after nearly six years away from music, with her last single being "Slumber Party" in 2016 from her ninth studio album Glory. It's also the first song she has released since her conservatorship ended last year, which was imposed on her by her father Jamie Spears in 2008, giving him and others complete control of almost every aspect of her life.

"Hold Me Closer" is a mix of three of John's epic hits: "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," "Tiny Dancer," and "The One," with vocals from Spears, whose fans can even hear an iconic "baby" from her 1998 hit, "Baby One More Time" in the background.

Spears' husband, Sam Asghari, also congratulated the pair on the song in an Instagram post, writing, "Proud husband moment! I will be listening to this all night! ♥️"

John also responded to the song's success, writing in a tweet: "I'm thrilled with the response to #HoldMeCloser. I wanted to do a fun, happy summer track so was ecstatic when @britneyspears agreed to be a part of it! She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars & I love her dearly. I hope you all love it!"

Ahead of the song's release, Spears wrote on Twitter, "Okie dokie...my first song in 6 years !!!! It's pretty damn cool that I'm singing with one of the most classic men of our time ... @eltonofficial !!!! I'm kinda overwhelmed... it's a big deal to me !!! I'm meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious !!!"

She also congratulated John for the upcoming collaboration prior to the pop singer deleting her Instagram account, writing in a post, "Since most say they are honored TO KNOW ME SO WELL and only want happiness for me you can bet your bottom dollar that THIS collaboration will heighten my year by joining your brilliant hands of play."

Addressing John, Spears added: "How cool is it to be a background voice on YOUR song!!!"

John commented underneath, writing, "More than a background singer darling. Can't wait for everyone to hear what we've been working on."

You can now listen to "Hold Me Closer" on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon Music, and more.
