Fans and fellow wrestlers have expressed frustration after Bronson Reed confirmed that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) had released him.
Reed was one of several wrestlers reportedly released by the wrestling promotion's NXT roster this week.
Several WWE stars took to Twitter to express regret at Reed's release but also offered words of encouragement to the 32-year-old, who hinted at the next steps in his career.
Reed, a former NXT North American champion, tweeted on Friday: "Just got released from @WWE.
"This monster is back on the loose ... you don't know WHAT you've just done."
Reed also tagged four other wrestling promotions—All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Impact Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring of Honor (ROH) Wrestling—suggesting he intends to stay in the sport.
Reed was trending on Twitter on Saturday morning following his announcement. His post has more than 20,000 likes and more than 2,900 retweets at time of writing.
Responding to his post, Canadian professional wrestler Chelsea Green told Reed: "It doesn't matter where you end up, you'll be successful!!!! You're a god damn star."
Former WWE star JTG suggested a match with Reed, tweeting: "The MONSTER is now on the LOOSE!!!!!! JAY THA GAWD VS BRONSON REED Somebody BOOK IT !"
Reed replied to JTG's tweet with an eyes emoji, a reaction sure to be of interest to fans.

Former WWE tag team champion and fellow Australian Cassie Lee said of Reed: "J Rock is so talented. He deserves the world man."
Reed began his wrestling career performing under the ring names Jonah Rock and J-Rock.
Australian wrestler Rhea Rhipley reacted to Bronson's release by sharing a broken heart emoji, while WWE SmackDown star Tegan Nox and Japanese wrestler Io Shirai also tweeted broken hearts that appeared to be a commentary on the released wrestlers.
Robbie Eagles, an Australian wrestler with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion, tweeted: "I saw how hard you worked for this, but I know how hard you're already working for the future. King of f***ing Monsters, my brother and truly one of the best. Can't wait for what's next! #G3 #JonahRock #BronsonReed."
Sean Ross, managing editor of Fightful, tweeted that in total 13 wrestlers had been released.
After detailing the releases, Ross later tweeted: "It's been a bad day, not everything means more bad stuff is impending. Not everything is a veiled wrestling clue yall."
