Police said when officers arrived at the scene, the man ran into a nearby Home Depot store and armed himself with an "edged weapon," the station reported.
Officers subsequently shot him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other civilians or officers were injured in the incident, ABC7 reported.

Monday night's incident comes days after two officers in Buffalo, New York, shot and killed a man, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.
Edward Holmes, 58, was fatally shot on Saturday morning.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said officers had responded to a report of a man with a gun and found Holmes holding a shotgun in the middle of a residential street, The Associated Press reported.
Gramaglia said officers had told Holmes to drop his weapon numerous times, but he fired it instead.
The two officers who shot Holmes were placed on administrative leave and New York Attorney General Letitia James' office is investigating. Both are standard protocol in police shootings.
Earlier in February an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) shot a man who was holding a white plastic fork.
Jason Maccani, 36, was killed during a confrontation with officers inside a commercial building on February 3, after a 911 caller falsely reported that a man was threatening people inside with a stick or a pipe, NBC Los Angeles reported.
LAPD Chief Michel Moore later told reporters that the caller had purposely misrepresented the situation in a bid to speed up the police response.
Moore said he was "concerned about the officer's decision to use deadly force."
