Candace Owens has mocked Khabib Nurmagomedov's call for UFC fighters to boycott Colby Covington, branding the bid "embarrassing."

Covington's friend-turned-foe Jorge Masvidal was this week arrested on charges of aggravated battery with bodily harm and criminal mischief after getting into an altercation with his fellow MMA fighter in Miami Beach, Florida, on Monday night.

Per an eyewitness account in the case report viewed by Newsweek, Masvidal told Covington he "shouldn't have been talking about my kids." Ahead of their March 5 grudge match, Covington spoke about Masvidal's relationship with his children.

Former UFC lightweight champ Nurmagomedov made his allegiances clear on Thursday, when he took to Twitter to share a statement.

"If you are stronger than someone inside the octagon, it does not mean that you can insult his children," Nurmagomedov wrote about Covington, who emerged from March 5's fight victorious. "No one has the right to insult someone's family.

"Once you have gone down this path, then be ready to back up your words. You were attack by [a] professional fighter, the same as you are, your own size, and you go press charges against him to the police?"

Urging action from others in the sport, Nurmagomedov shared his proposal that MMA stars should let Covington "sit without a fight."

"I think all welterweights should refuse to fight Colby, just don't accept fights with him, let him sit without a fight," he said. "[It] will probably significantly affect him and all fighters who even think of insulting families, who is provoking the fighters to look for someone in restaurants to deal with him."

The message was shared on the Twitter account of MMA Fighting, prompting one reader to quip that Nurmagomedov is "so soft."

Agreeing with the sentiment, conservative commentator Owens, who is friends with Covington, wrote: "Right? This is so embarrassing. Calling for a boycott. 😂😂 He better go buy a p***y hat and join the NBA. MMA is a man's sport."

Following his arrest, Masvidal plead not guilty to the felony charges, with ESPN reporting that he is next court appearance is scheduled for April 21.

Covington and Masvidal's face-off in the octagon earlier this month was the culmination of once-close friendship becoming a bitter rivalry. After his victory. Covington spoke disparagingly of Masvidal and took aim at Dustin Poirier.

"I just took care of Miami street trash. Now it's time to take care of Louisiana swamp trash," Covington said of his two former American Top Team teammates.

According to ESPN, Masvidal and Covington became close friends more than a decade ago as they bonded over training and their love of poker. The outlet reports that the fighters also once shared an apartment.

A host of incidents and a disagreement reportedly led to the pair falling out, with the fighters publicly expressing their distaste for one another in recent years.
