As Castlevania writer Warren Ellis recently discussed on Twitter, fans of the Netflix anime are an impatient bunch. "Extra special thanks to all the people who have been tweeting 'it's been 84 years' at me since 2018 who are now tweeting 'but what about Season 4.'"
Netflix has not confirmed Castlevania Season 4 yet, but if the previous two renewals are anything to go by, the streaming service could be making a decision about the future of the anime show very soon, as the show has always been recommissioned very quickly after each season is released.
Castlevania Season 2, for example, was ordered by Netflix on the same day in July 17 that the first series was released, while Season 3 was ordered just five days after the release of Season 2 on October 26, 2018.

Now people are asking about Season FIVE in what I can only assume is an attempt to destroy my mind.

However, there are some reasons why it might be a little longer before fans gets Netflix's decision about Castlevania Season 4. The timing of the Season 3 renewal, for example, may have had something to do with the fact that renewing the show five days after the release of Season 2 meant the announcement was made on October 31, allowing Netflix to commission one of their spookiest shows on the spookiest day of the year.
Also, there is the fact that Netflix now tends to take a bit longer deciding whether to recommission series. While some big shows get orders a few days after their current season is released, Netflix tends to wait at least a month before ordering new episodes of a show. This allows them to better analyse how audiences are watching their shows and whether there is any appetite among subscribers for more from a show.

If Castlevania is renewed for Season 4, it may be some time before fans see it. There was an 18-month gap between Seasons 2 and 3, and we might expect a similar gap between the current season and Season 4, especially as Ellis is also busy creating an animated series called Heaven's Forest for Netflix, while his webcomic FreakAngels is also being adapted for anime streamer Crunchyroll.
Castlevania executive producer Kevin Kolde was deliberately vague when discussing the possibility of Season 4 in a Collider interview. He said: "Season 3 sort of starts with new hope, new beginning, and you think everything's going to be great and happy, and then Warren pulls the rug out from under you, and it goes to s***.
"So look, there's definitely unfinished business and unfinished stories that I think we could easily [continue.]"
And past Season 4, on Twitter, Ellis replied to his tweet by saying, "Now people are asking about Season FIVE in what I can only assume is an attempt to destroy my mind."
Castlevania Season 3 is streaming now on Netflix.
