It's well known that cats nod off very easily, and one young feline is melting hearts online because of the one thing she can't seem to fall asleep without.

When Megan Cottone brought home her new cat, Chlea, she wasn't totally sure whether her beagle, named Chloe, would warm to the new addition. But much to her amazement, the unlikely friends have become inseparable while they're awake, and even more so when they're sleeping.

When the two are napping together, simply being side by side isn't enough for two-year-old Chlea, who loves to hold onto Chloe's paw in her sleep. Cottone, from Seattle, told Newsweek that she first "noticed the hand holding when Chlea was a kitten," and it has continued to happen ever since.

No matter where the pair are sleeping, whether it's on the bed, the rug, or on the couch, Chlea will make sure that she's touching Chloe's leg or paw in any way possible.

"They are the best of friends, and they love to take long naps together, as well as get to adventure the Pacific Northwest together," Cottone said.

While people often think that cats and dogs are sworn enemies, Chloe and Chlea have shown that they are certainly capable of getting along, and choosing to sleep beside each other is an even stronger indication of their bond.

It's thought that cats sleep for an estimated 18 hours a day, and likewise, PetMD suggests that dogs can sleep for 12 hours a day, so they certainly need to be comfortable and content when they do so. According to PetMD, when a cat sleeps beside their canine counterpart, it usually means they have forged a strong bond with one another, and they choose to sleep together for companionship, warmth and comfort.

Cottone regularly shares clips of the duo on her TikTok account (@megancottone), as she loves updating her thousands of followers with Chloe and Chlea's daily antics. "We have gained the best community of followers who love seeing the two of them together," Cottone told Newsweek.

On October 26, the Seattle resident shared a slideshow of images on TikTok showing how "Chlea always has to be holding Chloe's paw before falling asleep." The sweet pictures have melted many hearts online, and the post has gone viral with more than 47,200 views and over 7,600 likes in a matter of days.

Many social media users couldn't get enough of Chlea's precious habit, with plenty of TikTokers commenting on the viral post to laud the loving best friends.
