Laughter at Cat Refusing to Let Dogs Into Her Space: 'Bouncer Energy'

Anyone who lives with both cats and dogs knows that, when it comes down to who rules the roost, felines win hands down.

This dynamic was demonstrated clearly in a TikTok video posted five days ago to the account @meredith.ragdoll. In the clip, Meredith the ragdoll cat can be seen sitting on the inside of the lounge door. "I'm laughing so hard how each of the dogs are coming to my cat's door and she is letting them know she cannot come in," reads the text.

In another video, the original poster shows that Meredith has her very own mini apartment in the house. One small dog takes a few steps inside before thinking better of it and turning around and leaving. A second pup takes one look at Meredith before walking the other way, while a third waits at the threshold for a little while before deciding not to.

Despite the rivalry between cats and dogs remaining the focal point of many story lines, the internet is full of evidence that the two animals can get along just fine.

"Oftentimes viewed as 'natural enemies' because of their diametrically opposed roles in the wild kingdom, cats and dogs cohabitated not-so-peacefully in Africa for thousands of years before they were domesticated by humans," says Hill's Pet Nutrition on its website, "at which time it seems that they continued to be at odds with each other."

Sometimes, cats and dogs can live together by simply tolerating each other. "While ignoring each other is a more desirable situation than constantly quarrelling, your pets can live a fuller, more enjoyable life by interacting with one another. And you'll have more fun too," says Hill's Pet Nutrition, adding that encouraging interaction between the two can mean a happier time for all.

"Because they are both hunters at heart, they may have fun with dog toys like a stuffed animal, or you can create a cat toy with materials you have around the house. Just be sure that you're around to moderate such playtime, as it could easily go from amiable to aggressive if the animals misread each other's social cues," adds Hill's Pet Nutrition.

"Nightclub bouncer energy 'Nope, you're not on the list!'" wrote a user under the clip on TikTok.

"Y'all better not cross that threshold! Bahaha!" commented another user. "I love cats. I have the same energy. It is lovely to watch," posted a third.
