Australian actress Cate Blanchett is set to star in a new biopic of Lucille Ball, the American actress who starred in the long-running sitcom I Love Lucy, among many other television shows and films.
According to The Wrap, the film is to be written by Aaron Sorkin, who has worked on films such as The Social Network, for which he won an Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe, and Moneyball, which starred Brad Pitt.
The movie, whose title has yet to be revealed, is being produced by Lucille Ball's children Lucie and Desi Jr., alongside Escape Artists, a Sony-based company.
The story will reportedly focus on Ball's 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz, the American actor who she met when they both starred in the I Love Lucy, and their eventual divorce in 1960. Ball went on to marry stand-up comedian, Gary Morton.
As well as being an actress, Ball is also known for being one of the first women to run a major television studio after she founded Desilu. The studio went on to produce major television series including Star Trek and Mission : Impossible.
