Thanksgiving is upon us, and although it is a time for friends, family and food, not everyone is destined to wow guests and be a culinary star.

For many, it is the perfect holiday between Halloween and Christmas, and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

During the special occasion, some celebrities lift the curtain on their celebrations and give fans a glimpse into their traditions and attempts at preparing a feast, but not all are successful.

With more sure to pop up during this year's festivities, let these celebrities' failed food attempts from previous Thanksgivings make you feel better about any kitchen faux pas on your end.

Elizabeth Warren

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts had a slight mishap last year with a casserole.

On November 24, 2022, she shared her attempt at what was intended to be a sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on X, formerly Twitter. However, maybe not quite realizing just how flammable marshmallows were, she managed to set fire to half of the dish.

"Looks like I only set fire to half the marshmallows," Warren said, accompanied by an image of her standing, holding the burnt dish.

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen was a victim of an oven dessert scorching. Normally one to share aspects of her life, she stopped in 2018 when it came to a Thanksgiving pie.

She had her dreams set on making a show-stopping pie but instead made an inedible dessert that fans were not chomping at the bit to learn the recipe for.

On Instagram, Teigen shared an image of an incredibly burnt pie and said: "In case you are wondering why I didn't put my finished pie on my Instastory."

Jimmy Kimmel

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel couldn't quite handle the heat in 2021 and alarmed fans when he posted an image on Instagram covered in soot.

"Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Try not to burn your hair and eyebrow off lighting the oven!" he captioned an image of him looking worse for wear.

Fans rallied behind the star, wishing him and his family a happy Thanksgiving and to be more careful next time.

He did post a picture of him mastering the oven this year and shared his and his wife's charity efforts for Thanksgiving 2023.

Carrie Underwood

Country star Carrie Underwood served up just desserts in 2015 with her disappointed pumpkin surprise.

Taking to Instagram, Underwood captioned her dessert mess with: "On tomorrow's menu...pumpkin failure a la mode. #thanksgivingfail #sad #nodessert #smokedetector #ineedanewoven."

Based on her hashtags, her pumpkin disaster set the smoke detector off and caused havoc in her oven.

Olivia Munn

Actress Olivia Munn didn't understand that a frozen turkey needed a long time to defrost and revealed she ruined the first Thanksgiving dinner she cooked.

She told E! News in 2018: "The first time I ever made a Thanksgiving turkey, I didn't know it took a whole day to thaw, so I put the frozen turkey in the oven just four hours before dinner.

"Long story short, I had to run to the store and buy like 10 rotisserie chickens. But all the sides were on point, so it wasn't a total disaster."
