Chicago Fire Season 10 has returned to NBC—but Sylvie Brett (played by Kara Killmer) is still nowhere to be seen.
A few episodes ago, the character decided to go to Portland to stay with boyfriend Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), leaving fans worried that the character was gone for good. However, Killmer's recent appearance in a One Chicago fan event confirmed that she is still a crucial part of the Chicago Fire cast.
However, a question remains: Exactly when is Brett going to be back in Chicago? Luckily for fans, the showrunner of the One Chicago universe recently gave a series of interviews that seemed to confirmed the actor's return to the NBC series.
When Is Kara Killmer Coming Back to 'Chicago Fire'?

It seems that Brett will be back in the finale—and she will be bringing Casey with her.
Though he said he did not not want to fully confirm it before filming had begun, One Chicago showrunner Derek Haas told TV Line: "It is our great expectation that we will see both Casey and Brett in the finale, because giant, big exciting things are going to be happening. This will be the best finale ever, I'll go ahead and say it."
At the very least, this means we will see Killmer, as she is still a cast member of the show. The question is whether Casey will join her, and Haas seems very hopeful on that front. "Status on that is all systems looking good," Haas told the outlet. "I talked to him last week so I'm very hopeful that that's going [to] happen."
During a One Chicago fan event for the most ardent "Chi-hards," Brett gave some hints about why it was that her character had to take a break from the show.
In a fan-questions segment, Killmer was asked about what her character's romantic future with Casey looked like. The actor replied: "I know what I'd like it to be," before pointing at her ring finger.
She then added: "But they're working long distance, so she's got to get on a plane every once in a while. Take a visit...it's a two way street. But she'll do it, she loves him."
She also hinted that her return would see her character doing more paramedicine, adding: "We need to see more of Brett and Mouch [Christian Stolte] together, 'cause they're a great team."
Though it has not been confirmed yet, it seems that Brett and Casey will be back for the eagerly anticipated Severide-Kidd wedding, which is expected to take place during the finale. However, no details have yet been released about that plot point—during the fan-questions segment, actors Miranda Rae Mayo and Taylor Kinney said they had not received scripts for it yet.
Chicago Fire Season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC; The season finale is set for May 25. Previous episodes are streaming now on Peacock.
