Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that he met "a lot of cool people" while visiting Twitter headquarters days before the deadline to complete his takeover of the social media titan.
Musk updated his Twitter bio to describe himself as "Chief Twit" and boasted of his visit to the company's San Francisco office in a pair of tweets on Wednesday. The tech billionaire announced that he was making good on his $44 billion offer to purchase Twitter earlier this month following multiple false starts and an attempt to pull out of the deal, which resulted in him being sued by the company.
"Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!" Musk tweeted Wednesday afternoon alongside a video of himself carrying a white sink into the lobby of the company's headquarters.

It is not clear whom Musk may have met with on Wednesday. His visit to Twitter headquarters came on the same day that Reuters reported the Department of Justice had launched a criminal investigation into Tesla.
The investigation reportedly began last year and concerns a controversial "autopilot" feature of the company's electric vehicles, which has been blamed as a factor in more than a dozen serious accidents.
During a call with investors last week, Musk said that Tesla would soon be releasing an updated version of the autopilot feature that would allow Tesla owners to go "from your home to your work, your friend's house, to the grocery store without you touching [the] wheel."
While Musk's tumultuous attempt to purchase Twitter has appeared uncertain at times, he will likely meet Friday's court-ordered deadline to finalize the deal.
According to an article published by The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, which was based on anonymous sources and later cited by Reuters, banks on Tuesday began the process of transferring $13 billion that Musk will use to finalize the deal.
The outlet also reported that an internal Twitter document has informed employees that they should expect to hear from Musk directly on Friday.
Last week, a Washington Post report citing documents and interviews obtained by the publication claimed that Musk planned to cut Twitter staff by as much as 75 percent after taking control of the company.
News of the purported impending cuts resulted in backlash from some. This week, a group of Twitter employees issued Musk and company management a list of demands in the form of an open letter.
"A threat of this magnitude is reckless, undermines our users' and customers' trust in our platform, and is a transparent act of worker intimidation," the letter states. "We demand to be treated with dignity, and to not be treated as mere pawns in a game played by billionaires."
