A man has been slammed online for divorcing his wife following her devastating cancer diagnosis and commenting it is "not what I signed up for."
In a gut-wrenching post shared in the True Off My Chest Reddit group on Wednesday, July 13, which can be read here, user Anonymousoffmychest explained that their father had left their mother after her crushing diagnosis.
The post, which has received 17,300 upvotes since being shared, read: "During their marriage, my mom supported my dad through a car accident, a kidney transplant and minor heart surgery.
"He filed for divorce after her cancer diagnosis because it's 'not what I signed up for.'"

The Reddit user then concluded their message, adding: "I hate him so much."
According to provisional data gathered in 45 reporting states and Washington, D.C. by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were 630,505 divorces in 2020. The CDC said the divorce rate was 2.3 per 1,000 people in the same 45 reporting states and Washington, D.C.
Unsurprisingly, hundreds of people have commented on the post since it was shared, with many blasting the man over his behavior and apparent lack of care.
Many also believed the man deserved to be confronted in front of his family and that he would not experience the love from his family again.
One Reddit user said: "OP's (original poster's) dad will die alone. He forgets that he's getting older and the more he acts arrogant the more people that love him will distance themselves."
Another added: "He's the type to wife up again real quick with a doormat who will cater to his every need. It's unfortunate but highly likely. There's lots of lonely old ladies."
A third commenter posted: "The karma train is coming for him and it's gonna hit him when he's standing on the tracks."
While a fourth person simply shared the following: "Call his a** out. In front of his family."

According to California-based legal firm Wilkinson and Finkbeiner, there are numerous reasons why people divorce in the U.S.
Among the issues cited as a reason for divorce included the following:
- Lack of commitment (73 percent)
- Argue too much (56 percent)
- Infidelity (55 percent)
- Married too young (46 percent)
- Unrealistic expectations (45 percent)
- Lack of equality in the relationship (44 percent)
- Lack of preparation for marriage (41 percent)
- Domestic violence or abuse (25 percent)
Respondents often cited more than one reason, which explains why the percentages add up to more than 100 percent, according to the legal firm.
