Dead to Me's most recent set of episodes are currently topping Netflix charts across the world, with viewers hooked on the latest adventures of Jen Harding (played by Christina Applegate) and Judy Hale (Linda Cardellini).

After the current season of Dead to Me ended with a major cliffhanger, many viewers are eagerly counting down to Season 3.

Netflix has not yet renewed Dead to Me for another season. But with the show topping global charts, it seems likely that viewers will get at least one more set of episodes.

And with both seasons so far airing in May, it seems likely that Dead to Me will return for Season 3 in Spring 2021—assuming that the current production shutdowns due to coronavirus do not lead to a huge delay to the start of filming.

Though the show is not confirmed yet, its creator has said she already has a plan. Liz Feldman told Refinery29: "I do think there's some more story to tell. I know exactly what I would want to do for the third season...especially now that you know how Season 2 ends. Now there's somebody else with a secret."

This is a reference to (spoiler alert) Ben (James Marsden), who ends the show committing a hit and run while under the influence.

Netflix has not yet commissioned 'Dead to Me' Season 3 starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini Netflix

Though Feldman seems ready for Season 3, she has also hinted in multiple interviews that the show will not be a long-running series—and that the third season could even be the Netflix show's last.

She also told Refinery29: "I don't want it ultimately for this to be a 30 season-long soap opera. We're not The Bold and The Beautiful...I always want the show to be surprising and delightful, and I don't know if you can still be surprising and delightful seven or eight seasons in."

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter podcast, meanwhile, the showrunner added: "I don't see this show as a six or seven season-show. I don't wanna just have to pull a murder out of my pocket every two seconds just to justify the existence of the show."

Though Netflix has not recommissioned the series yet, it should not be a cause for concern among fans of the dark comedy. The streamer likes to look at 30 days' worth of data when deciding if it should order more episodes of a show.

Viewers of the series may not get any news about the future of the show until Summer 2020. Season 2 was ordered on June 3, 2019, exactly a month after the series was released, so fans might expect a June or July announcement from Netflix.

Dead to Me Season 2 is streaming now on Netflix.
