Debbie Reynolds once had to carry a dead fetus to term in the 60s and the late actress shared her harrowing experience during an appearance on Joan Rivers' chat show in 1989.
The legendary actress, who died in 2016, explained how doctors initially refused her an abortion when the fetus died during the pregnancy because it was against the law.
Footage of the interview began circulating on social media in the days following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that protected abortion rights.
"I had Carrie and Todd [Fisher] and I wanted to have two other children. I got pregnant, I was very lucky, in that sense, right away," Reynolds said in the interview about growing her and husband Eddie Fisher's family.

"I was pregnant seven months and the baby died inside of me but I didn't know it. It just sorta shrunk down a little bit."
Reynolds went on to discuss how in the pre-Roe v. Wade 60s, abortion was illegal in all circumstances and described how she still looked pregnant but was carrying a fetus that would be stillborn.
"And in those days, there were no abortions allowed, whether you were ill, whether you were raped, whether the child died, which is disgusting to think there is those laws," she said.
"That was the law. It didn't matter," she explained. "It had to abort itself—it could not be taken from me. It's insane to think that could be."
The Singin' in the Rain star described that the ordeal was made even more painful due to people always approaching her about her bump and asking what she planned to name the baby.
"'How's the baby? What name are you going to name the baby?'" she said people would ask her.
Eventually, doctors had to perform surgery to save Reynolds' life, as she was becoming ill from being forced to carry a dead fetus in her uterus.
"They couldn't leave it anymore because now the child is in the sac but, of course, finally after so much time, all the poisons and everything would have killed me," she said.
"They finally agreed they would try to take this child out," she added. "At this point now, it was more dangerous than ever."

"Debbie Reynolds tells Joan Rivers about her abortion experience in the 1960s. This clip is from 1989," the TV personality captioned the clip.
The resurfaced footage of Reynolds comes amid many strong reactions to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
The decision allows for abortion bans in roughly half of the states in the U.S. Thirteen states, mainly in the South and Midwest, have laws that ban abortion should Roe be overturned.
In other states, there will be battles over dormant abortion bans that were enacted before Roe was decided in 1973 or new laws that strictly limit when abortions can be performed.
Last week, the traumatic abortion experiences of another actress, Brigitte Bardot were highlighted on social media.
