How To Play Powerball

For those who feel lucky, Powerball tickets can be found in local grocery stores and other authorized lottery retailers.

Players can only buy Powerball tickets in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. If you are not from an eligible state, you can still participate in Powerball by purchasing tickets in a permitted state.

Each play costs $2 or with a $3 Powerplay option, allowing players in certain jurisdictions to multiply non-jackpot winnings.

Players then can select five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls, and then one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball.

You can choose your numbers on a play slip or let the lottery terminal randomly pick your numbers. The Powerball jackpot grows until it is won.

There is a new draw every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Results are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. Drawings are also live streamed on Powerball.com.

Powerball winners may choose to receive their prize as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or as a lump sum. The prize options will be subject to federal and jurisdictional taxes.
