Ring Camera Captures Dog Breaking Up Cat Fight: 'Mom Mode'

A home security camera has captured the hilarious moment a dog breaks up a cat fight.

Over 1 million people have watched the video shared by Kelsey Lynn, under handle @kels_lynn22, to TikTok.

The Ring camera recorded Kelsey's two cats, Flora and Max, playing and fighting in the kitchen, and moments later, Calvin, the black Labrador, ends it by simply barking.

More than 252,000 people have liked the video, and Calvin has been compared to a "mom" by hundreds online. You can watch the comical moment here.

Kelsey commented on her video: "You guys, we realize the cats are playing. Calvin does this and it's just funny because we caught it on camera. We will make sure to tell him."

It may be difficult for cat owners to distinguish between playing and fighting, as they might look aggressive.

Cat behavior expert Pam Johnson-Bennett has shared a blog post highlighting the signs to look out for that determine if the fight is serious or not.

She wrote: "Don't expect your cats to wrestle and tackle each other with finesse and gentleness."

The blog post also states that cats take it in turns to wrestle but "if you constantly notice the same cat pinned on the bottom, the encounter may not be playtime. With chasing, it should also be reciprocal."

Johnson-Bennett states that body language can tell you a lot and lists some typical ones to look out for:

• Claws should remain sheathed
• Ears should largely remain in normal position and not pinned back
• No piloerection of hair
• No growling
• No hissing
• Any biting should be minimal and done without causing pain or injury

It seems Calvin did the right thing when separating these felines as Johnson-Bennett suggests making a "sudden noise to startle them." She states cat owners should never get in the middle of a cat scrap as "this action will almost certainly cause physical injury to you."

Almost 1,000 TikTokers have commented on the video, at the time of writing.

One popular comment has received more than 17,000 likes, it said: "I KNOW you ain't fighting in MY house."

"He really said HEY and walked off," wrote another.

Kelsey referred to Calvin's intervention as: "Full mom mode."

Many users have noticed Flora, the cat with white markings, lifted her paw following the break up as if to blame Max.

One comment said: "The way the black and white one started it and had the nerve to point at the other one at the end. The dog said I'm going to count to three."
