A dog's perfect reaction to only seeing himself in the mirror has delighted viewers as it is so full of confidence.
Owner Mariah Krause told Newsweek on Reddit that her dog Bear often comes with her to work. (Talk about a total dream!) And, as every pet parent does, she likes to take a selfie with him in the mirror while at work together. When she does, Bear will stand there and look at her. But this time was different.
"We've probably done that about a dozen times but this was the first occasion where he only saw himself," Krause said. "It was cute!"
The video posted on Reddit by u/mjk25741 captured Bear's first reaction to only seeing himself in the mirror and to say it's adorable would be the understatement of the year.

Bear the 7-month-old mutt was nose-to-nose with the "other" dog. He couldn't stop pawing at the mirror as he wanted to get to the bottom of who was looking back at him. A few sniff tests later come up inconclusive about who was in the mirror.
That did not bother Bear, however. His ears were still perked up the entire time. He stared in amazement, loving on whatever dog was gazing back.
The February 6 post on the subreddit channel r/aww has users split on what Bear believed he was looking at. Some thought Bear put two and two together that it was his reflection and he was checking himself out.
One Reddit user wrote what Bear was probably thinking: "Hello handsome!"
"Omg those ears are too cute!" commented another.
While others thought he was investigating the other dog in the room: "I'm convinced most dogs, no matter their size, think they're giant killer wolves. OP's dog was like, 'Who's this punk!?'"
Although it does look like Bear can recognize himself, it is widely believed that dogs do not have the self-awareness to do so. The American Kennel Club (AKC) sighted the famous 1970s mirror test in which animals were tested to see if could recognize themselves. Only a few animals have passed the test, and dogs are not one.
A reason for that could be the way dogs explore the world, the AKC added. Humans are visual and use sight to mainly understand the world. Dogs, on the other hand, use their incredible sense of smell, which could explain why Bear kept sniffing the mirror - he was attempting to solve the mystery of the mirror with his snoot.
