Every dog has its day, including one pup who escaped from its owners and hopped on a bus into town.

PlymouthLive reported that the dog, Patch, boarded a Plymouth Citybus that took him into the English city center on Tuesday. The outlet wrote that passengers saw Patch get on the bus with someone they thought was the owner, but it was later discovered that the dog was riding solo.

Through the power of social media, Patch was soon reunited with his owners after an exciting day.

"We get some odd things in lost property, but today was a particularly odd tail...," a post published to the Plymouth Citybus Facebook page read. "Patch escaped from his owners and decided to take a trip on the 21. After passengers noticed he hadn't brought his human with him, he spent some time at our Royal Parade Travel Centre before being reunited with his owner and taken back to fur-miliar surroundings."

A bus passenger posted a photo of Patch to the Facebook group "Plymouth (UK) pets lost & found," which has more than 18,000 members. PlymouthLive also reported that a woman waited with the dog and bought him some water until the owners arrived and were reunited.

People were amused by the canine's bus ride into town and weighed in on the social media post on the "Plymouth (UK) pets lost & found" Facebook page.

"Hope he paid?" one commenter wrote. "Be buggered if inspector got on. Maybe he heard the pubs were back open and wanted to see for himself."

Another wrote, "Doggies day out. Someone please write a book or make a film?"

"Just fancied a trip to town!" a Facebook user wrote.

"Did he buy a single or a return!?" another commenter wrote.

The delighted comments continued under the post published on Plymouth Citybus Facebook page.

"Glad to hear it had a good outcome, looks like he enjoyed his little trip," a commenter wrote.

"Hope his ride wasn't too rrrrufff," another posted.

"Just going on his adventures! Such a good boy," read another comment.

Some joked and suggested the adventurous dog was looking to do something different for the day and wanted to do some sightseeing.

Newsweek reached out to Plymouth Citybus and the owner of the dog for further comment but did not hear back by press time.
