A dog is man's best friend—and sometimes best friends deserve special treats.
One pet owner has gone the extra mile, however, spending more than $5,000 to create a luxurious "house" for his golden retriever, Teddy, in a closet under the stairs.
The jaw-dropping transformation was first posted to TikTok in March by Johnathan Lower from South Carolina, known as @thehomeprojectguy on the social media site.
The clip shows a lavish space, with a small entrance perfectly sized for Teddy.
A grey stone facade makes it look like a real house, with white planks and darker beams to represent a roof.
The entrance has a welcome mat that reads "Teddy's House," as well as lanterns either side.
The video then shows the home's interior, which can be accessed by humans via a side door—and it is absolutely adorable.
It comes with a working fire and a flatscreen TV, as well as a portrait of a Teddy hanging on the wall.

The home also has polished wooden flooring, which is covered by a stylish patterned rug, and Teddy's plush grey bed is elevated on one side of the room, with storage cupboards beneath.
The golden retriever even has a mock window to gaze out of, as well as house plants and framed photographs.
Lower captioned the video: "Teddys dog house under the stairs!!" If this is what it now means to be "in the doghouse," we might all want to join him.

The March 15 clip has been watched more than 122,000 times. However, another TikTok video posted by Lower on March 19 to show the before and after of the project has racked up more than 29 million views.
This week, on May 11, Lower posted another follow-up video to answer some of the many questions he had received about the remodeling.
In the latest clip, which has been watched more than 14.8 million times, he said: "What's up, TikTok, this is Teddy's house. I built it in a closet under the stairs in my house.
"But we've got two biggest questions on a video that has been viewed tens of millions of times. How do you get in?
"Well how you get in, it's an old closet so there's a full-sized door. You open it and there's Teddy chilling in his house.
"Number two is, why a TV? Well, we've got a portrait, a TV and a fireplace. Obviously we are extra."
