A dog who just wanted a tasty snack has left the internet in stitches after his owner shared a clip of him begging for some of her food and regretting it immediately after.

The viral video was shared on TikTok on October 10 under the username @corgiandthepyrenees. In the clip, the dog, a mix between a Great Pyrenees and a hound, called Ben, can be seen sitting by his owner in the kitchen as she makes her food, begging for a taste of it.

The poster, who is making some spinach, decides to let Ben try some, and his reaction is exactly what you would expect from any dog. He can be seen spitting out the spinach leaves as soon as they get in his mouth, still begging for more, in the hope that perhaps one may taste different. The hilarious post comes with a caption that reads: "When he keeps begging for a piece of spinach..." It is followed by: "Maybe this one will be different."

It's not just that dogs don't like vegetables; they have scientific reasons not to eat them. The dog-wellness experts at WagWalking say that canines don't really need to consume fruit or vegetables to have a healthy diet, unlike us. In fact, the website adds that dogs' bodies and mouths are made to rip through meat, not leaves.

Moreover, while giving vegetables and fruits to your dog is good, as long as it doesn't make up more than 10 percent of their daily intake, you must be careful what you feed them. Some plants and fruits can be bad for dogs, even lethal at times. These include onions, garlic, chives, avocados, raw potatoes, cherries, mushrooms, apricots, apple seeds, grapes, and raisins, among other things.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 338,500 views and more than 41,600 likes on the platform.

One user, Haley, commented: "My dog kept begging for broccoli and running to the living room after she had one. I thought she was eating them until I found her stash???"

Savannah wrote: "My sister's dog kept begging me for food so I kept feeding him blueberries and he would hold them in his mouth for a second and just spit them out."

Memoriesaf.terall added: "My dog is too polite to spit it out in front of us so he'll go to a different room and then come back like nothing happened."
