Cute Moment Dog Meets Human Baby Brother for the First Time Caught on Video

A heartwarming video of a dog meeting her human "baby brother" for the first time has delighted TikTok users, with more than 370,000 views and over 35,000 likes.

In the footage posted by nurse practitioner Ellie Treece, Reyna the Vizsla can be seen walking over to the newborn baby, putting her face right up to him and sniffing him, before furiously wagging her tail.

While the dog in this video is very well behaved, website PupHelp.com says that, while Vizslas are not naturally aggressive, "they are boisterous and can knock small children over by accident, so supervision is required...

"Almost any dog can be good with babies and toddlers if the dynamic is handled properly. It's more about good ownership than anything else."

The U.K. animal charity the Blue Cross suggests that, when you're pregnant, it's a good time to start preparing your dog for the baby's arrival.

The charity recommends playing the noise of baby crying and screaming, quiet at first then making it louder as your dog gets more used to it. "It's important that your dog feels calm and relaxed with the sounds before you increase the volume, so remember to take this slowly."

The Blue Cross also suggests that many accidents happen between dogs and young children "when babies or toddlers approach a dog's food bowl, or when the baby tries to take a dog's bone or chew.

"Ensure that your dog is able to eat their dinner and other food items in peace, without fear of being disturbed or pestered. If your dog has a tendency to snatch treats, then now is the time to teach them how to take them gently from your hand," says the charity.

It's always important that your pet has somewhere quiet and calm to retreat to when they want to.

"This will be especially important to them once the baby arrives and eventually begins to toddle about," the Blue Cross suggests.

"Dogs will need to be given their own space. Teach your dog to go to a place that makes the dog feel safe and happy (e.g. a bed in the corner of a room). An indoor kennel (also known as a cage or dog crate) could also be considered for those times when they need peace."

The charity says: "When your dog retreats to their safe place, try to ensure that your baby doesn't toddle up to them unexpectedly."
