With Christmas only a week away and wish lists all finalized, people are scrambling to triple-check that everything is ready to go. But one dog is reminding everyone that there is more to life than physical presents.
A golden retriever, who is known on Instagram as dekuthegolden, does not have a Christmas wish list this year. Instead, he is thinking about everything he already has in his life that brings him joy—a loving owner, friends, family, and of course, treats.
"Our pets, our family and our friends are what is most important," the December 5 Instagram reel caption reads. "I bet that when most people are asked what their favourite Christmas memory is, it won't be anything material, do you agree?"
Presents, clothing and household items come and go while other items can break or be damaged, but memories and relationships last a lifetime. It's the little things in life.

The sweet video has allowed people to pause and reflect on what things they already have in life. It's a beautiful reminder to all to stop and smell the roses. And viewers couldn't agree more.
"With you totally. Who needs stuff to end up in a landfill when you can have love?" asked one Instagram user.
Another added: "Agree sweet fren! Memories are the best present." Plus, memories outlast any physical gift one might receive.
"We agree 100% Deku. Family time and making memories are what's important," a comment said.
Doggy Christmas Gifts
Although dogs view their owners as their entire world and most likely don't need anything else, dog owners can't skip out spoiling their babies. Toys, treats and new comfy beds are all excellent options.
Pets can join in on the Christmas celebrations early with special Advent calendars. These calendars, both dog- and cat-friendly, are filled with tiny treats and gifts. A tiny present a day keeps the doctor away! Others might want to purchase matching pajamas to wear together on Christmas morning.
As far as presents go, the pet website Daily Paws recommends seasonal treats like the ones available from Bocce's Bakery or special dog-friendly French macaroons from Uncommon Goods. There are even holiday-related dog toys such as plush dog balls and dog puzzles. Luckily, the possibilities are endless when it comes to buying for your four-legged bestie.
