Dogs are capable of never-ending and unconditional love, even when they have been through the most terrible traumas. They can be our support in the hardest of times, and while life can get crazy, it's important to make time to show them how much they mean to us.

TikTok user Daisy Guerrero recently shared a video of her and her dog, serving as a stark reminder to give back some of the love our dogs show us.

In the video, which has over 565,000 views, Guerrero's dog can be seen sitting in the hallway watching her walk back and forth. At one point, she goes to walk past her dog without acknowledging him, before changing her mind and giving him attention. He then follows her into the lounge.

"Your reminder to always give your fur babies attention," explains the video.

"I actually cried recording this," reads the caption.

Dogs give us so much, they can even let us live longer. A comprehensive review of scientific studies published between 1950 and 2019 found that dog owners had a lower risk of death due to dogs having a calming effect, lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of stress related health issues, such as a heart attack.

With this in mind, it's only fair that dog owners do whatever they can to make sure their pets live long and happy lives.

One of the easiest ways to do this is to take great care over their diet, as often dogs can only get as much nutritional value as you give them.

"For most dogs, a high-quality diet, whether from a can, bag, or your kitchen, is essential," the American Kennel Club (AKC) said on its website. "Don't just read labels and recipes, read your dog. Dull hair, unpleasant odors, and stomach problems may mean that the food doesn't agree with him. If that's the case, change the menu. Talk to your vet about the best food for your dog."

Another way to maximize your time with your dog is to make sure you monitor them closely and notice any changes in appearance or behavior.

"One of the best ways to extend your dog's life is to regularly take them to the vet and groomer," the AKC said. "Your vet has likely known your dog most of their life and can catch medical problems in routine visits before the issues progress. Groomers also keep dogs comfortable and oftentimes notice when something is off on your dog's body. There are also many supplements your vet may recommend to improve your dog's quality of life."

"Not me crying rn while my boy has zoomies," wrote one user on TikTok. "Please do give them love and attention, I lost my fur baby recently and it's the worse feeling, I can't wrapped my head around it till this day," shared another.
