An Australian shepherd who enjoyed being the only dog in the house didn't shy away from showing his owners exactly what he thought of the new puppy they brought home.

In a hilarious clip, posted by TikTok user Jess Ahern (@jesse_.ahern), Arrow the Australian shepherd can be seen glaring at his owner and whimpering with irritation due to his new "little sister."

When his owner, from Nantucket, Massachusetts, suggests coming closer for a cuddle, Arrow simply lays down in his spot and refuses to get any closer to the new family member, Aggie.

Since the video was posted on September 3, Arrow's reaction has amused many social media users, who can't get enough of his sassy attitude. The video of his realization that she's "not just a visitor" went viral on TikTok, generating more than 1.2 million views and over 60,900 likes.

After enjoying one dog and seeing how much love they bring into the family, it's often tempting to consider getting another. A second pup means they both have playmates and can keep each other company when everyone is out – which sounds ideal, right? But introducing your resident dog to a new addition isn't always easy going, and it should be done with care, as they can become territorial.

Advice provided by the American Kennel Club (AKC) suggests owners shouldn't just bring a new dog home and expect both pets to accept each other immediately. It can take a while and introductions should take place over a period of time, to allow both dogs to gradually acclimatize.

The AKC recommends introducing the dogs to each other in a neutral location, walk them on leashes together, and keep the meetings brief to allow both dogs their own downtime as well. Neither dog should be reprimanded for their behavior as they're just learning to communicate and figure each other out.

After receiving some inescapable side eye for bringing the new puppy home, Ahern joked on TikTok that "Arrow isn't thrilled" about his new sister, so it would take some time for him to accept her.

Fortunately, following his initial reservations, Arrow has grown fond of Aggie and the duo have started to play together in their home. Since Arrow became such a viral sensation, many TikTok users have demanded more videos of the two dogs as they gradually become closer.

The viral post had received over 800 comments at the time of writing, with many people lauding his reaction, and some dog owners sharing similar experiences.
