Netflix is getting the Dolly Parton treatment.

The country superstar's highly anticipated anthology series, Dolly Parton Heartstrings, is set to debut on the streaming platform on Friday. Viewers will be able to start streaming it as early as 12 a.m. ET.

The eight-episode series is based on the stories and inspiration surrounding Parton's most iconic songs, and—no surprise here—each episode will feature hits and classics from the singing sensation. Episodes will range in genres, from romance to drama, westerns and revenge comedy.

Each episode will serve as its own stand-alone story—titled after one of eight Parton songs—and will have a different cast. However, Parton will appear at the beginning every episode as herself, introducing each story by either talking or singing and offering a brief explanation of each song's meaning. She will also appear as a guest star in a few of the episodes.

Episodes will be based on Parton hits like "These Old Bones," "If I Had Wings," "J.J Sneed," "Cracker Jack," "Sugar Hill," "Down From Dover," "Two Doors Down" and an all-time fan favorite, "Jolene."

Appearing on a Netflix featurette for the show, Parton said that 1974 classic from her album of the same name "had to be in the show."

"That is the most recorded song that I have ever written," she pointed out.

Julianne Hough will star as the flirtatious title character, who works as a waitress at a honky-tonk bar run by a woman named Babe, played by Parton. As in the Grammy-winning song, the free-spirited young woman dreams of ditching her small-town life in Coventry, Georgia, in exchange for a career as a singer-songwriter in the big city. The episode features cast members Dallas Roberts and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

Speaking with TV Insider in an interview published Thursday, Williams-Paisley noted her on-screen co-worker, Jolene, will shake up the new town with her arrival, just as the lyrics suggest in the legendary song.

"I played a woman who's been married for a while, and maybe the relationship's getting a little bit tired, but they love each other," Williams-Paisley explained. "Then this gorgeous Jolene comes to town and threatens everything, and yet everyone seems to be in love with Jolene. She's this magnetic, amazing person, so I loved playing that tension between loving her and then being threatened by her as well."

Other episodes of Dolly Parton's Heartstrings will have stars like Jessica Collins, Camryn Manheim, Timothy Busfield, Kathleen Turner, Ginnifer Goodwin and Patricia Wettig, among several others.
