Social media users have suggested E. Jean Carroll could sue Donald Trump for a third time after he attacked her at a rally on Saturday night.

In January, the former president was ordered to pay Carroll $83.3 million for defaming her in comments he made in 2019 after she first publicly accused him of raping her in the dressing room of a luxury department store.

A separate jury in May, 2023, awarded her $5 million from Trump for sexual abuse and defamation. Trump denied wrongdoing and said he would appeal.

On Saturday, Trump attacked Carroll at a rally in Michigan as he railed against a New York judge who ordered him and his companies to pay $355 million in penalties, plus interest, after ruling that he had manipulated his net worth in financial statements.

"A woman, I'm saying, 'Who the hell is she? Who is the woman?' It's so unfair what's happening in our country," he said, referring to Carroll. "Our court system is a mess. What's happening in our country, they have to straighten it out."

Several people took to social media to suggest Trump's latest comments about Carroll could prompt yet another defamation lawsuit. Newsweek has contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment via email.

"Donald Trump just attacked E. Jean Carroll AGAIN," Harry Sisson posted on X, formerly Twitter.

"Even after a jury found that he sexually abused and defamed her, he continues to repeat debunked claims. A new suit needs to be filed against him. I'm ready for Carroll v. Trump 3!!!"

Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of liberal media outlet MeidasTouch, wrote: "Time for E. Jean Carroll v Trump Lawsuit #3!"

The Palmer Report wrote: "Donald Trump just idiotically attacked E. Jean Carroll again. Wonder how many more millions he'll have to pay her this time."

However, attorney Bradley Moss wrote that Trump was "close, but he didn't cross the line" in his remarks.

Legal experts previously told Newsweek that there is no limit to how many times Carroll can sue Trump for defamation.

"Trump can be sued every time he defames her, through his speeches and written words," said Dave Aronberg, the state attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida.

"Each successive case becomes easier for Carroll's lawyers to win."

Barbara McQuade, a former United States attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, said a jury "has already found that Trump sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll. Every time he denies it, he exposes himself to another claim for defamation."
