Former President Donald Trump has called out Disney while on a tour stop as a part of his campaign for a second presidential term in 2024, calling the international entertainment hub "woke."

Trump spoke to residents and supporters in Hialeah, Florida, on November 8 at his rally as he fights to remain the frontrunner among the Republican presidential hopefuls.

During his speech, he praised his team and friends, including "one of the smartest people" he knew, former chairman of Marvel Entertainment Isaac "Ike" Perlmutter.

A video shared on X, formerly Twitter by account @wdwpro1, captured the moment and was captioned: "Things keep getting crazier for Disney."

Disney has been criticized in Florida recently by Republican and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is locked in a dispute with the company over its support for teaching LGBTQ+ rights and gender identity in schools and has claimed he wants to build a theme park to rival Disney.

Piling on the Disney issues, Trump spoke highly about one of his guests at the rally.

"He is one of the most incredible businessmen in the world," Trump said.

"The great Ike Perlmutter, he is right over here [pointing to the crowd]. He is one of the greatest businessmen."

Trump can be heard in the video saying, "He owned Marvel and sold it to Disney. He is not too happy with Disney going woke, I will tell you," which was followed by some boos from the crowd.

Trump ended that section of his speech by praising the "incredible" businessmen and businesswomen he had supporting him.

Perlmutter is an avid Trump supporter and has been friends with the former president for years. They both have residencies in Palm Beach, and Perlmutter is a member of Trump's Mar-a-Lago club.

He acquired the Marvel Comics business in the late 1990s and sold it to Disney in 2009.

In March this year, Perlmutter was laid off from Disney as part of a cost-cutting campaign by Marvel Entertainment, an offshoot of Marvel Studios that focused on consumer products.

A supporter of Perlmutter and Trump commented on the video: "Ike is coming back with vengeance."

Another added: "Now that is just epic!"

One laughed at the comment: "This is hilarious," while another social media user swatted away the video: "Everybody at Marvel always hated Perlmutter, and Trump's way more likely to go to jail than win any more elections, so I've got no idea why this gets you going."

Newsweek has reached out to Donald Trump's team and Disney via email for comment.
