A Fox News segment has gone viral on Twitter for showing multiple supporters of Donald Trump discussing why they're moving away from backing the former president in 2024—and praising Ron DeSantis instead.

The Republican voters praise Trump for his time in the White House but insisted that the GOP needs "new blood" in the next presidential election. Many of the former Trump supporters claimed that Florida Governor DeSantis would be a better option.

According to recent polls, DeSantis is currently seeing increasingly optimistic signs of support for a presidential run in 2024. Neither Trump nor DeSantis has publicly stated that they're running for president in 2024, but some believe a Trump announcement is on the horizon. DeSantis is currently running for reelection in Florida.

"In case anyone had any doubt that Fox is dumping Trump for DeSantis, they just ran this piece where they interviewed 'random' Trump voters to see if they wanted him to run in 2024, and who they would like to see instead of," Twitter user Ron Filipkowski wrote as a caption to the video, which has been viewed over 270,000 times.

Many of the former Trump voters said that while they did appreciate his work as president, he was too divisive and the Republican party needed a unifying figure.

One Trump supporter who spoke to Fox News said: "I like what [Trump] stands for I like what he does but he upset too many people and he upset them really bad, I don't think he is good for the party."

A second supporter said: "It is too bad that he did what he did do and was fought the whole way along on darn-near everything he did but that is what happened. I would like to see him not run."

"I voted for [Trump] my very first time. I don't think it would be best for our country for him to run for re-election," a third Trump supporter said. "I am thankful for everything that he has done but I think that our Republican party needs to be united."

He went on to say: "I really like DeSantis, I like him because I think he can unify the party and I think he is a fighter and a leader and we need both."

The first Trump supporter from the video came to a similar conclusion when it came to the Florida Governor.

He said: "[I would like to see] DeSantis as president, if he wants to he can pick up Donald as a vice president."

The second Trump supporter also made a similar statement and said it was important to have some "new blood" in the Presidential election race.

A poll conducted last month by the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Survey Center found that Republican primary voters were more likely to back DeSantis than Trump in a head-to-head against Biden.

"It's likely to continue that way," Andrew Smith, director of the UNH Survey Center, told Newsweek. "We're seeing that more Republicans are willing to vote for DeSantis than they are for Trump."

Newsweek reached out to Trump's office for comment.
