A teenage girl has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offenses after allegedly posting a "kill list" on a chat room for high school, which included other students and Donald Trump.
The 14-year-old girl, who has not been named as she is a juvenile, was detained after deputies from the Licking County Sheriff's Office received information regarding the alleged threats.
The freshmen student at Watkins Memorial High School in Pataskala, Ohio, allegedly posted a list of people she said was going to kill in May 2019.
During the investigation, police ruled that the girl had "no means to carry out the threats and there is no immediate danger to students, staff or others mentioned on the list."
She was arrested on suspicion of making terrorist threats and sent to a juvenile detention facility. The teenager is due to appear at a juvenile court on a later date.
"The Licking County Sheriff's Office has, and shall continue to have, a zero tolerance policy on threats to our schools," Sheriff Randy Thorp said.
"It is our hope, as always, that children who make these threats can receive necessary assistance at the guidance of the court and learn from the experience."
Earlier this year, a man pleaded guilty to sending more than 150 threatening letters to Trump and former presidents, including Barack Obama and George W. Bush, as well as several other politicians and government organizations.
Kao Xiong, 34, of Oroville and Saint Paul, Minnesota, pleaded guilty to one count of making malicious threats about explosive devices by mail in January after claiming he was going to assassinate the elected officials with a pipe bomb.
One letter was sent to Trump on January 20, 2017, the day he was inaugurated as president.
"Pipe bomb and kill all Donald Trump families," the letter said. "They are known as the unstoppable force. They got their information that they need to bomb each place... Pipe Bomb house and organization. Snipe and poison."
In another letter, sent to Trump Tower in New York, the defendant said he was going to "assassinate your family" and "shoot you like pigs." The letter contained photographs of Trump and his family.
He also wrote a letter to the FBI's office in Boston received demanding money in return for the president's safety.
"I need one million dollars or Donald Trump is dead...Drop it off at McDonald at Lyndale, [Minnesota]," the letter said.
Xiong was arrested on December 22, 2017, and remained in custody until May 23, 2018.
In March, Xiong was sentenced to time served plus five months' home detention and three years on supervised release.
