During the outpouring of grief over the passing of Eddie Van Halen, fans are also bonding over the fact that, despite being a Rock God, Eddie was actually a nice, even down-to-earth guy.

On Reddit, a photo began circulating that was taken last year at a Tool concert. For those not familiar with Tool, they are difficult to describe, but terms like post-metal, art rock, progressive art metal, and other such combinations of those words are commonly used in reference to their complex music. In other words, not necessarily the type of band one would immediately figure Van Halen would like, but he was there with his son, Wolfgang, who took the photo in question and shared it on social media at the time.

The picture shows Eddie snapping a cellphone photo of a Tool fan who seemingly wanted a photo of himself with the stage in the background. Even funnier than not realizing he asked a Rock God to take a photo of him in front of another band's stage is not recognizing that said Rock God is way, way more famous than the group he was there to see. (That's not a knock on Tool so much as a general fact of Eddie's stature in the music world.)

Wolfgang expertly captured the moment, sitting behind his dad and capturing the camera he's holding as well as the happy fan posing a few feet away. The younger Van Halen captioned the picture: "A guy asked my dad if he could take a picture of him with the stage behind him, having no idea who he just asked, and that was my favorite moment from the @Tool show last night."

Tool played the Los Angeles Staples Center last year on October 20 and 2, though it's not clear which show the Van Halen's attended. (Wolfgang's post was from October 22.) Yet, there Eddie is--a Rock God/Nice Guy happily and graciously taking a photo of a young rock fan at a show. Perhaps he relished the uncommon feeling he likely hadn't felt since he was young himself and just a fan at a show.

As many followers of Van Halen know, Wolfgang is the one who broke the news of his father's death on social media. He was undoubtedly close with his father, even replacing Michael Anthony as the bass player in Van Halen in 2006 while still in high school. In recent years, he has spoken of releasing a debut solo album, on which he has said he will play every instrument and sing.
