Rob McElhenney has been caught sneakily watching his beloved Philadelphia Eagles while attending the Emmys.

The It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star was snapped by his wife and former co-star Kaitlin Olson live-streaming the NFL playoff on his cell phone during Monday's ceremony.

The actor then posted the photo to X, formerly Twitter, with the caption, "Who schedules the Emmys the same night as the @eagles #gobirds #FlyEaglesFly?"

He later posted again to write "Worth it I guess," as he posed with Olson and the Emmy he'd just won for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program for his Disney+ series Welcome To Wrexham.

During the game however, he received a funny message from Buffalo Wild Wings.

The fast food chain replied to McElhenney's post about missing the Eagles game due to being at the Emmys.

"should have just come to b-dubs instead," the company replied on X.

The Eagles ended up facing a season-ending loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, going down 32-9 in the sudden death playoff.

McElhenney was on-hand at the Emmys to collect the statuette on behalf of himself and Wrexham co-star Ryan Reynolds. The reality series tracks the pair's purchase of the down-and-out soccer club Wrexham in Wales as they attempt to restore it to its former glory and ascend up the levels in the English Football League.

He had previously given an acceptance speech for the award, but was interrupted by Reynolds' superhero alter ego, Deadpool.

In a video posted to X on January 7, McElhenney opens by giving a sincere thanks for the award before being cut off by Deadpool, who refers to Reynolds as "Mr Lively."

"Whoo! Wow! Umm... Mr Lively couldn't be here to accept this broken Emmy, so he sent me on his behalf. First and foremost, Wrexham, we love you," Deadpool says as he holds a broken statuette given to him by costar Hugh Jackman, who is reprising his Wolverine role in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie and officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Thank you for letting Rob and the other guy tell your story. I'd also like to thank the Academy for this honor and for not asking to attend the televised awards show with the real celebrities. Mr Lively promises to not f*** up my next movie."

Deadpool continues by asking the Oscars to give Deadpool 3 a "token" nomination for special visual effects, for "the amount of work on Hugh and Ryan's face alone is at least worth a nod."
