When Meghan Markle's relationship with Prince Harry first became public in 2016, she was best known for her successful television career, starring for a number of years in the hit legal drama Suits.
When it came time for Meghan to leave her acting roots behind and embark on a new career as royal princess, she kept an important part of her past with her, inviting a group of her Suits co-stars to attend the royal wedding, rubbing shoulders with world royalty, including Queen Elizabeth II.
In the years since Harry and Meghan's marriage, and in particular the four years since their split from the monarchy and move to the U.S., there has been perennial interest in the duchess' former career.
In 2023, Netflix U.S. added Suits to its streaming library, creating a huge resurgence in popularity for the show which would go on to break consecutive Nielsen streaming records. With this came inevitable calls for reboots and renewed interest in the cast.

In the wake of this, Suits stars who have been spotted on red carpets and in media interviews have been asked first about their time on the show and second about their relationship with Meghan. However, six years on from the royal wedding, despite no claims of any issues between them, a number have revealed they are no longer in contact with their royal former co-star.
Meghan Markle and 'Suits'
Meghan Markle joined the cast of Suits from its first season in 2011.
Taking on the role of paralegal Rachel Zane in the Pearson Specter Litt law firm, Meghan's character went through a cycle of professional and personal highs and lows resulting in a committed romance with the character of Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams).
Meghan starred in seven seasons of the show. She left after her relationship with Prince Harry became more committed, with their engagement being announced later in the same year.
In 2023, following Suits' streaming success, Meghan was asked about the show on a Hollywood red carpet.
"It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew, we had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons so, quite a bit," she said.
"It's hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it but good shows are everlasting."

Gina Torres
Gina Torres, the actress who portrayed the character of Jessica Pearson in Suits, was among the first of the cast members to be asked about her contact with Meghan following the show's streaming success last year.
In a red carpet interview given at the Golden Globes in January 2024, Torres discussed the show and a small reunion of the cast (that Meghan was not a part of) as they presented the award for best drama series.
Asked by Variety whether the cast were messaging each other ahead of the awards show, Torres said: "When it all came through we were all texting each other, yes, our text thread is insane right now. So it's very exciting."
When asked who had texted Meghan, she responded: "We don't have her number. We just don't...She'll see. She'll watch. She'll be happy that we're here."

Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams
Following Torres' red carpet interview, Suits stars Gabriel Macht (who played Harvey Specter) and Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) sat down with The Hollywood Reporter as they reunited to film a Super Bowl ad for T-Mobile.
Both Macht and Adams were among the Suits stars present at the royal wedding and Adams' character was Meghan's main love interest on the show.
Asked if they had spoken to Meghan recently, Macht said: "I have not communicated with her, other than seeing her big support for the resurgence [of the show] and that has been really nice."
For his part, Adams then responded: "Zero. No communication."

These comments do not suggest that any friction has developed between Meghan and her former co-stars. In 2020, Adams suggested that though he has her number, he was "scared" of the idea of breaking through the walls of protection that exist around her, to initiate a conversation, also that he wouldn't know what to say.
"I have no doubt I could pick up the phone and call her at any moment, but I don't know what I would say," he told the Radio Times.
"After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I'm a little scared.
"I think it's pure fear. I guess I'm scared about the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation."
