Everything We Know About Netflix's 'Outer Banks' Season Three

Netflix announced today, February 28th, that season three of the hit TV series, Outer Banks, is officially in production. Some of the cast have posted a set of group pictures on their social media accounts.

"welcome back (:" Chase Stokes, who plays the main character, John B, captioned his photo, which has received over 1 million likes in just three hours.

"OBX 3 is en route," Madison Bailey, also known as Kiara, posted to her 6.5 million followers.

It was confirmed in December of 2021 that the drama series would be returning for a third season giving fans quite a relief since the end of season two was left on a wild cliffhanger.

What is Outer Banks about?

Outer Banks follows John B (Stokes), a teenager who stops at nothing to find out what truly happened to his father. After finding out that his father is linked to a multi-million dollar treasure, John B enlists his best friends JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Bailey), and Pope (Jonathan Daviss) to help him out. He soon realizes that he isn't the only one looking for this treasure. Along the way, John B meets and falls in love with Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), a teenager that is a part of a wealthy family that caused tension between Sarah's family and John B's friends.

At the end of season 1, John B is on the run from the police as he was wrongly accused of shooting a police officer while trying to stop a plane that contains the gold he found. Rafe and Ward Cameron (Sarah's brother and father) are taking it for themselves and hiding it in The Bahamas. The couple set out in a small boat during a big storm, leaving them in the middle of the ocean but rescued by a passing ship heading right where they want to go: The Bahamas.

What happened in season 2?

The captain of the ship realized the runaways are wanted back in the states. John B and Sarah end up escaping once they reach land, hiding at a fancy hotel. Unfortunately, they are caught by the ship's captain (E. Roger Mitchell) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) team up with so they don't get turned in. They negotiate by sharing some of the treasure.

Throughout the season, Sarah and John B find their way to get the treasure back, but try to keep themselves hidden from their loved ones at home. They eventually come back to the US where they discover the real treasure that links to Pope's family. The group of friends struggles with the constant competition of Rafe and Ward, who want their hands on the treasure.

What can we expect from season 3?

With no release date confirmed yet, Pankow described the new season as a "crazy, crazy, high-octane ride" from the scripts that he read in a recent interview with Access. New information regarding the newest season has been kept quiet.
